I Am The True Vine

In the Book of John, Jesus tells us who he is in John 15:1 KJV
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.”

A husbandman is one who cultivates the land. So what Jesus is saying is he is the true vine and his Father is the cultivator.

The next thing Jesus says is…“Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.” John 15:2 KJV

“Cultivate And Purge”

Geraniums. They are a beautiful flower and very easy to grow.  To cultivate and purge them is like what  Father does. Jesus is the vine,  and we are the branches. To make a geranium grow more flowers, it has to be pruned, or purged. So it is with us, the branches. In us, the pruning or purging comes in the form of trials. I know this may sound corney but it’s true….I always remind myself…this is a test, it’s only a test. I will pass it. Faith, strength, trusting in the Lord all grows, along with other worthy attributes that need to be refined in us.

“Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, except it abide in the vine, no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.’ John 15:3-5 KJV

Jesus goes on to say this,

“They are burned”

If A Man Abideth Not

“If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them , and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.” John 25:6

Burn fire burn!  There is a scripture in Malachi that speaks of the Lord as a refiner’s fire. It’s pretty exciting.

“But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fuller’s soap: And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.” Malachi 3:2-3 KJV

“Bear Much Fruit”

If Ye Abide In Me…

The scripture in John 15 says these things Jesus will do.

“If Ye Abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.” John 15:7-8 KJV

The above two scriptures are promises of God. Bearing much fruit is God’s plan for every Born Again Believer. Poverty and lack have no place. Abundance and More Than Enough is the way of Yahweh!

Jesus goes on to say that,

“If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love, even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. This is my commandments, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friend. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.” John 15; 10-14

The love of God is like no other. His friendship surpasses ones imagination. One has no problem in doing the commandments that he talks about because that’s what we do with close friends

Ask the Lord today to show himself as a person, a man of flesh and blood. He did that with me several years ago. For 3 days, Holy Spirit led me to scripture after scripture where he, Jesus was a man, flesh and blood. A person. A friend. It will deepen your relationship with him….and… you’ve gained a best friend. There is no other like being friends with Jesus.
